Description

THE POW is a 3D incremental game. You press the keys of a calculator (+1, +25, ×3…) to grow a number; the POW plate charges up and, when released, raises the number to a power with a comic-book blast. With the six letters of THE POW lit, the blast reaches x^20, and there’s THE POW².

Each rebirth gives you a new calculator (12, from the abacus to the golden one). There’s a PC running POW-DOS (upgrades, amulets, switches, promotions, casino, combos, achievements and a guide), a casino with a lever, a VIP table and double or nothing with cards, envelopes, orders, phone calls, a day-night cycle, streaks, crits, chained combos and golden keys. Ten keyboard switches change the shape, relief, colours and sound of the keys and the style of the POW.

What’s new in 0.9.6

  • 10 keyboard switches (stock plus Thock, Creamy, Tactile, Clicky, Bubble, Typewriter, Ceramic, Silent, Navy), each with its own shape, colours, sounds and POW.
  • A different POW for every switch, with “strong” (SUPER, MEGA, GIGA) and “maximum” (THE POW) variants.
  • Revamped casino: a pedestal with a light-bulb marquee, a VIP table and double or nothing.
  • Calculators with lights and animations (nixie, LED, printer, toaster, casino, holographic, golden).
  • Xbox and PlayStation controller support.

The demo

Free on itch.io for 64-bit Windows. It goes up to the sixth calculator, the Scientific one (5 rebirths). Unzip and play: progress saves automatically.
